RWI provides our customers with Milling, Lathe/Turning, EDM, and Inspection capabilities.

Milling Capabilities

RWI's milling capacity ranges from X-axis 15.00" x Y-axis 15.00" to X-axis 40.00" x Y-axis 20.00". This range of machine table sizes enables us to machine a wide variety of component sizes. We use pallet shuttle duel spindle machines for production, ensuring a high degree of repeatability and accuracy.

To fabricate complex milled components, we use CNC Rotary Axis units such as Lehmann & Nikken. These high quality Rotary units enable us to keep consistently high accuracy throughout all four axes. We have High-Speed machining capability with spindle speeds of up to 30,000 RPM. With these machines, RWI has produced accuracies of +/- 2 Microns.

Our Horizontal Machining capacity ranges from X-axis 15.00 x Y-axis 18.00" x Z-axis 15.00" to X-axis 27.00 x Y-axis 27.00" x Z-axis 30.00". We have horizontal high speed machining capability using spindle speeds of 20,000 RPM. With this versatility we are able to machine components on 54 faces in a single setup. Also, with our infinite rotary tables, we are able to machine at any required angle.

Our 5-axis mills give us the ultimate ability to machine complex components in a single setup. The 4th and 5th axis is of the trunnion and table construction, and all 5-axes are integral to the machine. because all the axes drives are synchronous to each other, we can machine complex components using multiple axes.

Lathe/Turning Capabilities

RWI's turning capacity is in the range of 0.003" Diameter to 25.00" Diameter, 40 inches Long. This is achieved using a variety of manual and CNC Lathes. Our Manual Lathes are the traditional 2-Axis Tool Room lathes for Precision turning. The CNC Lathes used for Super Precision turning range from 2-Axis up to 10-Axis simultaneous. They incorporate Live Tooling in the X-Axis, Z-Axis and Y-Axis, and multiple spindle's, with C-Axis capability. The use of Live Tooling and multiple spindle's, enables us to manufacture components complete in a single setup. This reduces setup cost and meets our customers' requirements in manufacturing their components competitively.

EDM

RWI has one of the largest EDM departments in the U.S. Our capabilities include micro-EDM of holes as small as 0.001" in diameter, and wire EDM using wire of only 0.0008" diameter. The maximum workpiece capacity for wire EDM is X - 19.5", Y - 13.9", and Z - 16". Conventional EDM maximum workpiece capacity is X - 19.5", Y - 13.9", and Z - xx".
